US President Donald Trump said he is in no hurry to implement his plan to take control and rebuild Gaza while simultaneously resettling Palestinians to other countries, he said during a White House briefing, the Times of Israel reports.

As you know, after Trump repeatedly floated the idea that Egypt and Jordan could take in some of the refugees from Gaza while the sector is being rebuilt – an idea that Cairo and Amman rejected – earlier this week he suggested that “the US would take control of the Gaza Strip” and the residents of the enclave.

“We’re not rushing this,” Trump said on February 7.

The American leader added that the plan was “well received.”

“Essentially, the United States will look at it as a real estate deal, where we will be an investor in that part of the world. We don’t need anyone there. It (control of the Gaza Strip – ed.) will be handed over to us by Israel. They will look at it from a security perspective,” the American president informed.

Trump noted that a military presence or anything else is not being considered.

“But I think the fact that we are there, that we can invest there, will go a long way toward bringing about peace,” the US president said.

He emphasized that America only seeks stability in the Middle East and will not send its troops to Gaza.
