The President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, did not give a clear answer regarding Ukraine's role in negotiations to end the war that Russia is waging against our country.

This happened during the American leader's briefing in the Oval Office. So, journalists asked Trump whether he considers Ukraine an equal participant in the peace process. The US president avoided a direct answer.

“That’s an interesting question. I think they’re going to have to make peace. People are being killed, it’s a bad war, and I think they’re going to have to make peace. That’s what I think,” the White House chief of staff replied.

Other statements by Donald Trump about Ukraine

As you know, Trump has repeatedly repeated the thesis that if he were the president of the United States, Russia would not have attacked Ukraine in 2022. It is worth noting that the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine has been going on since 2014, and Trump's first presidential term was from 2017 to 2021.

He also promised to end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours, although he later admitted that this was an unattainable goal. According to the American president, a ceasefire in Ukraine is possible “in the not too distant future.”

At the same time, the head of the White House considers a return to the 2014 borders unlikely.

Speaking about the prospect of Ukraine's membership in NATO, he agreed with the statement of Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth, who called such a scenario unrealistic.
