Changing the oil is one of the most common procedures in car repair shops. Although it seems simple, performing it incorrectly can lead to serious consequences for the engine. A motorist revealed how drivers can be deceived when performing this standard task.
What you should know
If you change the oil too late, it can damage the engine. However, problems can also arise during the replacement process itself if the service personnel are not conscientious. Sometimes, instead of completely changing the oil, the masters only clean the filter and add a little new oil, creating the appearance of having completed the procedure.
There may also be situations where the amount of oil is overstated. For example, instead of the required 4,25 liters, the driver may be charged for five liters. In addition, instead of high-quality oil, a cheaper analogue is sometimes used. Although this does not always affect the operation of the engine, the owner will still be deceived.
Sometimes the oil is pumped out through the dipstick hole without removing the protection, which can lead to the old oil remaining at the bottom, mixing with the new. This will worsen its characteristics. Experts advise being present during the oil change to avoid possible fraud on the part of car service workers.
