Global markets react positively to war talks

Steps to resolve the war in Ukraine are always positively perceived by the markets, but Donald Trump's latest statements will not have a very significant impact.

This opinion was expressed by economist Oleg Pendzin in a comment to UNIAN.

"In reality, any moves to resolve the war between Ukraine and Russia are perceived very positively by world markets. Actually, all statements - I'm not talking about yesterday's statements, but in principle towards resolving the war - are perceived quite positively, which is reflected in economic indicators, stock quotes, etc. I simply would not single out the latest statements as some separate block," he said.

The expert believes that these statements are worthless until there are concrete actions: they simply show the process of negotiating the formation of certain positions, and it is still too early to talk about any decisions.

"Therefore, I would not exaggerate the significance of yesterday's statements, including those about the elections. In my opinion, these are more political matters than real matters that should be analyzed. Therefore, I do not see any great dangers in what concerns yesterday's statement," Pendzin said.

Financial analyst Andriy Shevchyshyn noted that the first reaction to such statements (regarding elections, etc.) is more likely to cause shock, but so far it is all "just talk, slogans, announcements."

"Trump promised Hamas hell on earth if they didn't return the hostages by Saturday afternoon. And the gates of hell didn't open. So, I would prefer that emotions subside, swear words fade into the background, and instead of statements, real proposals or demands appear," the expert said, adding that it's worth waiting for statements based on the results of Keith Kellogg's trip to Ukraine.
