Due to new safety regulations, the Suzuki Ignis, Swift Sport, Vitara, S-Cross and the three-door Jimny are leaving the Australian market. From March 1, 2025, new car safety requirements will come into force in Australia, which many models presented in the country do not meet. This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to CarExpert.
Speaking to CarExpert, Suzuki Australia CEO Michael Pacota said the company had planned to phase out models that had reached the end of their life cycle from the local lineup. The Ignis, Swift Sport, Vitara, S-Cross and three-door Jimny are no longer available for order, but dealers should have enough stock to last until 2025.
Most of the cars listed have been said goodbye to the Australians, as Suzuki has no intention of investing in their development, but with the Jimny, things are not so clear-cut. The AEB system, which will become mandatory for all cars in Australia from spring, is available on the five-door version of the model, and potentially the Japanese brand can equip it with the three-door SUV.
The Vitara and S-Cross crossovers will also remain on the Australian market, but only in hybrid versions. At the same time, Suzuki is preparing new products for Australia, in particular, the launch of the Fronx crossover, which will be imported from India, is planned.
