Subaru has introduced a new Forester with a hybrid system. The ijcnjuj generation model appeared back in 2023, but was still sold in the American market with an unalternative 2,5-liter naturally aspirated engine. Now the range has been expanded with an off-road version of the Wilderness and a hybrid, which got the system from the Crosstrek.
The Forester Hybrid differs from the gasoline version in nameplates and a new exclusive color Daybreak Blue Pearl, and the new product can be ordered with a contrasting black roof. In the American market, the model will be offered in four trim levels.
The hybrid's powertrain is the same as the Subaru Crosstrek: it includes a 2,5-liter Boxer engine that operates on the Atkinson/Miller cycle, an electric motor that acts as a starter-generator, a traction electric motor, a Lineartronic continuously variable transmission, and a lithium-ion battery. The power output of the system is 197 hp, and the total range is claimed to be 935 kilometers. The Forester Hybrid has all-wheel drive.
In addition to the hybrid version, Subaru also showed a new off-road version of the Forester. It was called the Wilderness. This car will be offered in the US with a 2,5-liter ICE (183 hp), and externally it differs from a regular crossover in terms of perimeter protection made of unpainted plastic.
Forester Wilderness received underbody protection and increased ground clearance - it is 236 millimeters instead of 221 millimeters in the regular version. Also, the angles of entry and exit have been increased, and the car is shod in Yokohama Geolandar off-road tires. The list of equipment includes the X-Mode driving mode selection system with original settings.
