Two Honda coupes were sold at a Mecum auction in the US. The seemingly unassuming cars turned out to be quite expensive.
A 1991 Honda CRX coupe sold for $71, while a 500 Honda Civic sold for $2000. The high price, on par with a new Volkswagen Touareg, is due to the fact that budget Hondas are time capsules with minimal mileage. Both cars are in excellent condition, having been virtually unused.
The 1991 Honda CRX Si coupe has only covered 525 km, making it practically new. The 2000 Honda Civic Si has slightly more mileage – 3316 km. However, its condition is no worse.
Both Honda coupes are equipped with a 1,6-liter four-cylinder engine with 160 hp. with the company's VTEC variable valve timing system and a 5-speed manual transmission.
Honda coupes come with air conditioning, power steering, and a sound system. The Honda CRX Si also has a sunroof, and the Honda Civic Si has cruise control, a factory spoiler, and a CD player.
