In Ukraine, during martial law, drivers can drive vehicles even with expired licenses. This was reported by the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, noting that documents that expired during this period remain valid throughout the country. Licenses can be renewed after martial law is lifted or by contacting the service center.
You can apply for a new driver's license through several official channels: directly at the Ministry of Internal Affairs service center, at the Administrative Services Center, or through the "Diya" mobile application. Thus, drivers have access to convenient options for obtaining documents.
The first time a license is issued for 2 years, after which the driver can obtain a document valid for 30 years. This is a common practice in Ukraine, allowing for monitoring driving competence at the initial stages.
According to the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in 2024, more than 200 thousand citizens received their first driver's licenses. At the same time, four people refused the plastic form and issued an exclusively electronic version of the license.
