The Porsche 911 sports car has undergone many different improvements and adaptations over its 60-year history, while remaining one of the leaders in the segment in terms of reliability and driving characteristics. However, few people would have thought to turn this rear-wheel drive coupe into a full-fledged SUV. And so it happened. Atelier Kalmar Automotive presented its vision of an off-road sports car, writes Tvoia mashina.
The new model received the RS-7 prefix and was created on the basis of the 997 generation, which was produced from 2004 to 2013. The modification received a number of improvements for off-road driving: an updated front grille with large air intakes, LED lighting on the nose, a ducktail-style rear spoiler and Kevlar bodies for additional protection.
The new model is equipped with aluminum underbody protection, a reinforced chassis, adaptive shock absorbers and hydraulic ground clearance adjustment - from 17 to 21 cm, which allows for high cross-country ability. The modified suspension without stabilizers provides greater freedom of movement of the wheels, and the six-speed manual transmission with a limited-slip differential emphasizes the sporty character of the car.
The cost of the upgrade starts at approximately 4,307,000 hryvnias ($103,783 or €99,997), not including the cost of the donor and additional options. Judging by the photos presented, the Porsche 911 RS-7 copes well with off-road and snowy roads.
