A painting titled "Society Woman" by Colombian artist Fernando Botero fetched $1 million and was one of the top lots of the evening auction.
Sotheby's recently sold a minority stake in Abu Dhabi's sovereign wealth fund, in part to create a regional partner that would help the auction house focus on the Middle East market.
