Smart, which has recently become 50% owned by the Chinese multi-brand holding Geely, is systematically expanding its model range. Given the popularity of cars with classic bodies in China, next year the Smart brand intends to introduce its first sedan in its history.
The novelty, which will receive the simple name Smart #6, will be positioned as a flagship model, and the main competitor is considered to be the updated Tesla Model 3. This is reported by Autocenter. There is no final data on the power unit yet, but the possibility of the appearance of not only an electric, but also a hybrid modification PHEV is not excluded. Smart #6 will be created by Mercedes-Benz designers, and Geely will be responsible for R&D and production. In particular, the electric platform will be “shared” with Zeekr 007. This means that it will use the PMA2+ platform, derived from the widely used Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA).
Powertrain options will include one and two electric motors, powered by 75 kWh and 100 kWh batteries respectively. In the Brabus version, output will reach a record 475 kW/646 hp for the brand's cars.
The low-slung Smart #6 will also be an aerodynamically perfect representative of the brand, surpassing coupe-shaped Smart #3 crossover. The streamlined body will contribute to an impressive 800+ km range on the Chinese CLTC cycle. This matches the performance of the related Zeekr 007 sedan, which is capable of driving up to 870 km on a fully charged battery.
The Smart #6 is expected to debut later this year, with sales starting in early 2026. The automaker recently announced that it will enter more than 10 new markets this year, expanding its presence in South America, Africa and Europe. Last year, Smart sold 130 cars, mostly in China.
