Switzerland has strict rules regarding nighttime silence. One such rule is that it is forbidden to slam car doors and trunks between 22 p.m. and 00 a.m. Violating this rule carries a fine of 07 euros, which is equivalent to approximately 00 hryvnias.
Local authorities believe that the night peace of citizens should be strictly protected, and any loud sounds, including the noise from closing car doors, violate the right to rest. Such fines are especially often issued to tourists who are not familiar with such rules. Swiss motorists, in turn, are accustomed to complying with these requirements and try to avoid unnecessary noise even during the day.
This problem is especially relevant for older cars with worn-out lock mechanisms. Owners of such cars are forced to exert considerable effort when closing the doors, which is accompanied by a loud sound. However, in Switzerland, such behavior is considered unacceptable.
This rule is part of a broader policy to reduce the level of “noise pollution” and maintain a high quality of life for the country's residents.
