NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte agreed with US President Donald Trump in Greenland, particularly on the issue of defense. He expressed his opinion in an interview with the tabloid Bild.
"When it comes to defense in the Arctic, Trump is right. What I think is very good is that the Danish Prime Minister immediately started negotiations with President Trump. In essence, it was about the high relevance of defense in the far north," said Mark Rutte.
According to him, this applies not only to Greenland, but also to Iceland, Norway, Finland, Sweden and Canada.
“We must all work together to protect the territories. And Trump is right,” the NATO Secretary General emphasized.
It should be noted that US President Donald Trump stated during his first term that he wanted to buy Greenland. Having won the presidential election in 2024, Trump did not abandon this idea.
Trump's intentions regarding Greenland were recently confirmed by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. According to him, Trump is serious about buying the island of Greenland, which is currently part of Denmark, and it is "his priority."
