JD Power has released its 2025 Most Reliable Cars rankings, based on 2022 model year owner reviews. The most reliable car is the Toyota Avalon sedan, which is no longer sold in the U.S. Overall, the average PP100 reliability score has declined from 190 to 202, reflecting a decline in vehicle quality caused by manufacturing issues during the 2021 pandemic.
Toyota lost its leadership position, dropping from second to fourth place, behind Buick and Mazda. Alfa Romeo improved significantly, while Volkswagen fell to last place and Audi became the least reliable premium brand. The best models in their segments were the Nissan Kicks, Toyota Corolla, BMW 3 Series, Toyota RAV4, Lexus GX, Chevrolet Tahoe and Chevrolet Corvette.
The main problems of modern cars are related to electronics, especially multimedia systems and their interaction with smartphones. Automakers have not yet been able to solve these issues, which may create new challenges for the automotive industry and affect consumer trust in modern technologies in transportation.
