Gardeners say that zucchini is not the most difficult crop to grow. Even if you are of the same opinion, you should not lose your vigilance. Zucchini can make an unpleasant surprise in the form of rot on the fruits.
Why does rot occur?
The reasons are different, but there is a positive point. The situation can be corrected. To do this, it is necessary to analyze the main factors of the development of a certain disease or violation of growing conditions. The main reasons:
- iodine deficiency;
- boron deficiency;
- calcium deficiency;
- dense planting;
- excess moisture;
- excess nitrogen fertilizers.
With an insufficient amount of calcium, the fruits have top rot. In this case, you need to restore the balance by feeding with calcium nitrate — 10 ml of the product per 15 liters of water.
If you see zucchini not growing and rotting, they have a boron deficiency. You need to make fertilizing with boric acid - 2 g per 10 l. Plants should be sprayed with the solution.
Iodine deficiency can be established when the rot takes over the entire fruit. Add 30 drops of iodine to 10 liters of water. This will help overcome the deficit.
Zucchini love space. If the bushes are planted too closely, you need to remove excess leaves. In addition, it is necessary to properly water the zucchini. They do not like cold water. It is also necessary to water under the root. They are watered in warm weather once every 2 days, and in less cold weather - once every 5-7 days.
