The Volkswagen Teramont Pro hybrid crossover was presented in China. The new name hides a truly different car: the exterior, interior, and even the engine range have all changed.
Volkswagen Teramont Pro is a development of its predecessor: the MQB platform and the 2980 mm wheelbase remain unchanged, but all body panels have changed. Due to the increased overhangs, the overall length has increased to 5158 mm. The body consists of 82% high-strength steels, and the exterior is made in Chinese fashion: full-width optics, hidden handles, a blank radiator grille, a hidden exhaust.

The interior is deliberately digital: the developers even abandoned the usual door handles, replacing them with buttons. On the front panel there are three screens, like in the “younger” Volkswagen models for China, the door cards are pierced with luminous threads. The top version has nine airbags, three-zone climate control, a Harman/Kardon audio system with 14 speakers, a panoramic roof and a projection display.
The basic front-wheel drive version has not yet been shown, but it will have a 214-horsepower 2,0-liter gasoline engine. In more expensive modifications, there is a 272-horsepower iteration along with an all-wheel drive transmission. In any case, under the hood is a fifth-generation EA888 turbo-four with a hybrid system and a 7-speed DSG “robot”.

Sales of the Volkswagen Teramont Pro are likely to begin in early spring. The crossover will continue to be assembled at the SAIC-VW plant. Prices will be announced later, but a guideline is $34,5.
