ICC prosecutor who filed arrest warrant for Putin hit by US sanctions

International Criminal Court prosecutor Karim Khan, who issued an arrest warrant for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, has been added to the US sanctions list, Reuters reports.

It is noted that Khan became the first person to fall under economic sanctions imposed by US President Donald Trump. The sanctions include freezing the American assets of those on the list and banning them and their families from entering the US.

As a reminder, Karim Khan, as the Chief Prosecutor of the ICC, announced the launch of an investigation into war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by Russia in Ukraine on March 1, 2022. It was he who filed a request for an arrest warrant for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and the Russian Commissioner for Children's Rights Maria Lvova-Belova in the case of the deportation of Ukrainian children.
