Pickled cucumbers are familiar to everyone, but there is an interesting option for preserving with garden berries. Gooseberries are used for this. They often grow in summer cottages, so combining delicious berries with cucumbers is an original idea.
Ingredients
The components are designed for a 3 liter jar:
- water - 1,5 l;
- cucumbers - 1,5 kg;
- gooseberries – 0,5 kg;
- garlic - 4 cloves;
- dill umbrellas – 1-2 pcs.;
- horseradish – 2 leaves;
- horseradish root – 1 pc.;
- black peppercorns – 4 pcs.;
- salt - 120 g.;
- sugar - 60 g.
How to cook
Wash the cucumbers thoroughly and cut off the ends. Wash the berries and herbs as well. The jar also needs to be washed and dried.
So, put the greens, chopped horseradish root, and garlic in a jar. Then the cucumbers, and on top the gooseberries. Pour boiling water over everything and let it stand for 15-20 minutes.
After 15 minutes, drain the water into a saucepan, dissolve the salt and sugar in it. Bring the marinade to a boil. Pour it into a jar, close with a lid. Turn it upside down. Cover the jar with a terry towel and leave to cool. You can sterilize it if you wish.
The recipe is designed for a 3 liter jar. If you want to cover more, the proportions of the recipe need to be increased to the required volume. Enjoy!
