The authorities of the Astrakhan region of Russia have acknowledged the deaths of 1112 residents of the region in the war in Ukraine. This is almost 400 more than independent media reported. This was reported by the Astra Telegram channel on Monday, February 17.
In January, reconstruction of the memorial began in Astrakhan Those killed in local conflicts. On February 4, the governor of the region, Igor Babushkin, held a meeting on the preparation and holding of events in honor of February 23. At it, the mayor of Astrakhan, Igor Redkin, announced that seven plaques with the names of 1112 Astrakhan residents who died in the war in Ukraine would appear on the monument. Recall that earlier, independent media reported that among the 93641 reliably confirmed deaths in the war in Ukraine, 728 were from the Astrakhan region. This is 384 less than the authorities' data.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine eliminated 1530 occupiers over the past day. Since the start of the full-scale war against Ukraine, the Russian army has lost 859 soldiers.
