New parking fines for disabled people: what has changed

Ukraine has tightened control over parking in spaces designated for people with disabilities. Patrol police are actively checking drivers who occupy these spaces without appropriate documents or identification marks. Drivers who violate these rules face fines ranging from 1020 to 1700 hryvnias, and in case of repeated violations - up to 2550 hryvnias.

According to current legislation, only drivers with disabilities or those transporting passengers with disabilities are allowed to park in specially designated spaces. Improper use of a disabled person's sign or blocking access to these areas can result in a fine of up to 2700 hryvnias. However, the issue of control is controversial - some citizens believe that fines should be issued even without the driver's presence, but currently, a report can only be issued with his participation. 

The police urge drivers to follow parking rules, as such violations create significant obstacles for people with disabilities. Specially equipped spaces are important for their convenience, so irresponsible attitude to these rules can lead not only to fines, but also to significant inconvenience for those who really need these parking spaces.
