The large Volkswagen Tayron crossover debuted in 2018. The car, originally intended for China and produced by the SAIC-VW joint venture, gradually made its way outside the Celestial Empire, so its name is now used in Europe (for the Tiguan Allspace replacement).
What else is known
The Chinese version of the Tayron was updated in 2022, and now it will have to move to the second generation. The day before, the car was filmed for the first time without camouflage at a dealer's site in China. The official launch of the crossover is scheduled for March.
As you can see in the spy photos, the second generation of the “Celestial” Tayron will be made in the brand’s latest corporate style with angular headlights and a fully LED light source inside them.
Part of the radiator grille will be occupied by a through-beam illuminated block, under which there will be a diamond-shaped mesh and slots, which are a prop for sports air intakes.
The sidewalls of the reformed crossover will change the relief of the stampings, and will also acquire handles hidden in the doors, while the rear will change due to the installation of a new bumper and a different block of lights.
The new generation of the Chinese version of the VW Tayron will be 5158 mm long, 1991 mm wide, and 1788 mm high. The wheelbase will be 2980 mm.
Inside, the large German-Chinese SUV will have a new front panel design and other displays for the digital instrument cluster, multimedia system, as well as a different central tunnel without a transmission selector.
The highlight of the new generation Tayron should be the 2-liter turbocharged gasoline engine of the fifth generation EA88 with two output options of 213 hp and 271 hp (previously, the most productive modification of the model produced 220 horsepower).
