Struggling Nissan has announced seven new models. At its annual press conference, it was announced that the partnership with Honda had broken down. However, Nissan's need for financial recovery has not gone away, so much attention has been paid to updating the model range and cutting costs. Seven models are planned: an electric sedan and an electric hatchback, a minivan, a city car, a K-car and two crossovers.
What else is known
The first new product has been de facto revealed, it is the electric sedan Nissan N7, made for China together with Dongfeng. Among the high-profile premieres of 2025 are the new generations of Rogue (X-Trail) and the electric car Leaf. Moreover, Nissan considers the crossover to be two new products: it is not for nothing that marketers have separated the usual hybrid modification from the charging one, because different cars are hidden under one name.
Also on the list of new products is an unnamed large minivan (possibly Nissan Serena), an unknown kei car for Japan and a successor to the Micra. Everything is clear with the hatchback: Nissan will use the experience of its alliance partner and de facto copy the Renault 5. This year there were even more premieres: here are the Nissan Patrol / Armada SUVs, the Murano crossover, the updated Qashqai, and the modernized Kicks.
Nissan plans to cut operating costs by $2,6 billion: it will have to reduce staff, costs for developing new products and introducing new products. The Japanese automaker's production capacity will decrease by a quarter from five to four million cars per year. At the same time, without an investor, Nissan's long-term future remains unclear.
