As stated by the Russian Permanent Representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia, the coming to power of representatives of the Republican Party in the United States has led to the emergence of chances that the hot phase of the conflict in Ukraine may soon end.

“The opportunity to transform Ukraine into a civilized state, where the rights of all citizens are respected without any discrimination on political, linguistic or national grounds, has been lost,” Nebenzia said.

According to him, after the Republicans came to power in the US, diplomacy came into play. Nebenzia stated that this is what Russia has allegedly always called for.

“There are chances that the hot phase of the Ukrainian crisis may soon end,” Nebenzia said.

However, he emphasized that a ceasefire and a freeze of the Ukrainian conflict along the contact line by one's own forces are not guarantees of its resolution.

"This is the most important lesson of Minsk, and it should be learned by those who will work today on new contours of possible agreements. Especially since European political dwarfs do not hide that in the event of a ceasefire, they intend to engage in rearmament of Ukraine and prepare it for the resumption of war," Nebenzia explained.
