
The Kremlin has commented on recent statements by US President Donald Trump that the United States is conducting "constructive" talks with Moscow and Kyiv regarding the war in Ukraine.
Thus, answering CNN's questions, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that there were no serious discussions of a possible meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
“They didn’t have any initial contacts to discuss whether they needed a meeting or not, and if so, when and how,” Peskov said.
Peskov told reporters “not to rush,” adding that he would comment on the situation “as soon as we get something concrete.”

Immediately after taking office, Trump announced that he would meet with Putin and that the details were now being agreed upon.
Leonid Slutsky, the chairman of the Russian State Duma's international affairs committee, told reporters that preparations for the Trump-Putin meeting are at an "advanced" stage. He noted that the politicians could meet as early as February or March.
Earlier, media reported that Russia was considering Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates as possible venues for the meeting.
