As Politico reports, the head of the White House wrote about this on his social network Truth Social, Ukrinform reports.
"Next week I will sign an executive order that will end Biden's ridiculous insistence on paper straws that don't work. Back to plastic!" the post reads.
Last summer, the Biden administration announced that the federal government, which is the world's largest buyer of consumer goods, would phase out single-use plastics in all of its buildings.
The controversy over straws and other single-use plastic products is part of a broader debate about whether the federal government should reduce greenhouse gas emissions. More than 90% of plastic is made from fossil fuels, which when burned release large amounts of carbon dioxide and accelerate climate change.
In the first few weeks of his new term, Trump has signed a series of executive orders covering everything from trade and immigration to climate change and citizenship. He has also proposed moving Palestinians out of Gaza and transferring the enclave to US control.
