Many studies suggest that coffee has many beneficial properties for the brain, metabolism, heart, and circulation. But at the same time, not everyone can drink coffee.

Scientific data available today show that even decaffeinated coffee can have a positive effect, albeit a weaker one compared to a drink that contains caffeine. This is due to the antioxidants contained in coffee, especially chlorogenic acids. These substances not only contribute to the deep taste of coffee, but are also extremely effective against free radicals - molecules that destroy cellular integrity and cause inflammation associated with the development of cancer. According to the conclusion of the WHO's International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), there is evidence that coffee provides a protective effect against liver and uterine cancer. In turn, scientists from the USA and Israel recently reported that drinking coffee reduces the risk of colon cancer.

In addition, coffee provides protection against Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease.

How much coffee to drink? The European Food Safety Authority states that 400 mg of caffeine per day is absolutely safe for health. However, not everyone can use caffeine and the chlorogenic acid contained in coffee. According to scientists, some people's body is genetically unable to properly absorb coffee - side effects include rapid heartbeat or stomach pain.

Coffee may not always have the expected stimulating effect. Neurobiologist Stephen Miller explains that coffee has a stimulating effect only if it is drunk at the right time. For example, in the morning between eight and nine o'clock, coffee is not able to invigorate, because at this time the body naturally maintains a high level of cortisol in the body, and caffeine can do little. For the same reason, says Dr. Miller, you shouldn't drink coffee between 12 and 13 p.m. and 00:17 and 30:18 p.m. The ideal time for a stimulating cup of coffee is the period of the morning from 30:9 to 30:11, the expert shared.

The most significant benefit to the body is coffee in the amount of three to four cups, - in a larger amount, the drink does not bring any benefit, experts summarized.

"A meta-study conducted at Harvard involving just under 1,3 million people showed that people who drank three to four cups of coffee a day had the lowest risk of developing cardiovascular disease. Anyone who drank five or more cups of coffee a day had, on the contrary, an increased risk of these diseases. But the greatest risk of developing cardiovascular pathologies was found in people who did not drink coffee at all," they said.
