As Ukrinform reports, this was reported by Jakatra Globe.
A Bali police spokesman confirmed on Thursday that a team of law enforcement officers had been dispatched to search for suspects in the kidnapping and robbery of a Ukrainian man. “The Bali Police Criminal Investigation Department is currently handling the case,” he said.
The police report said the incident took place on December 15 in the South Kuta district of Badung. The Ukrainian, identified as Igor Yermakov, and his driver were driving a BMW when they were ambushed on a street on the island. Their car was blocked from the front and rear by two other cars, the report said.
Four armed men, wearing masks and all black, approached the victim's car. They allegedly forcibly pulled Yermakov and his driver out of the car, blindfolded them, and handcuffed them. The victims were then taken to a local villa, where the kidnappers took the Ukrainian's mobile phone and forced him to transfer his cryptocurrency assets to two accounts.
“They beat the victim and forced him to reveal access to his Binance account, which allowed them to steal assets worth $214,” the spokesperson said.
It is noted that the injured Ukrainian man suffered injuries to his right ear and both wrists, and he also has traces of beatings.
The spokesman added that police are treating this case as a priority and are urgently working to identify and apprehend the suspects.
