France is ready to provide security guarantees to Ukraine, French President Emmanuel Macron said. He also noted that the use of European troops as peacekeepers does not necessarily mean they will be on the front lines.
But they will mark their presence in Ukraine as a guarantee, he said during a meeting with US President Donald Trump in front of reporters, Sky News writes.
Macron also said that the US's determination to enter the war again "is a source of uncertainty" for Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin.
Trump noted that the war “could be over within weeks,” and also said that Putin would allow European peacekeepers to be deployed in Ukraine as part of a potential peace deal.
Other statements by Trump and Macron in the context of Ukraine
Earlier, I reported that Trump made new statements about the war in Ukraine and minerals. He noted that the war in Ukraine could escalate into World War III, and Washington intends to prevent such a scenario.
In addition, Macron responded to Trump's scandalous statements about Zelensky's "dictatorship." He stated that Zelensky is legitimate and is "the elected president of a free system" - unlike Putin.
