Mercedes-Benz has decided to end production of the A-class sedan and there will be no successor.
The A-Class sedan debuted in July 2018 as an expansion of Mercedes-Benz's compact model family. It was a more traditional alternative to the coupe-like CLA compact sedan.
In October 2022, the A-Class sedan and related hatchback underwent restyling, and in the spring of the same year, Mercedes-Benz management decided to divide its passenger models into three price segments – Top-End, Core and Entry. At the same time, it was decided to reduce the Entry line, which includes the A-Class, because the company set a course to increase the average price of a car sold - they say, we will produce fewer cars and earn more on them.
For the A-class, this decision was a verdict; after the life cycle of the current generation family is complete, the younger Mercedes-Benz model will be the new CLA, which will premiere in the near future.
The plant in Rastatt, Germany, has begun to gradually phase out production of the A-Class sedan and is only fulfilling previously received orders for this model. The A-Class hatchback will live longer, possibly until the end of this year.
