Researchers at the University of Oxford analyzed data on 418 people from nine European countries who were followed for 000 years. They found that eating different foods was associated with different measures of stroke risk.

Scientists have stated that an increase in the diet of fruits, vegetables, milk, cheese, and yogurt improves human protection against ischemic stroke, in which blockage of arteries occurs and reduces blood flow to the brain.

"Daily consumption of two additional servings (up to 200 grams) of fruits and vegetables provides a 13 percent reduction in the risk of stroke. "Increasing the daily dose of fiber by 10 grams reduces it by 23 percent," the authors of the paper reported.

Experts recalled the long-standing recommendation to consume at least five servings of fruits and vegetables per day. According to them, most people do not follow this dietary rule, while following it effectively increases the protection of the brain against stroke. Also, many people do not follow the advice to eat the recommended amount of fiber - up to 30 grams per day.

In addition, the study showed that there should not be too many eggs in the diet, as this increases the risk of hemorrhagic stroke, characterized by bleeding in the brain. An additional third of eggs consumed daily was associated with a 25 percent increased risk of this type of stroke, Oxford experts found.

"It is important to understand that excluding certain foods from your diet, such as eggs, will not protect you from stroke. To reduce its risk, you need to focus on the correct diet in general, maintaining physical activity, controlling blood pressure," said the head of the study, Dr. Richard Francis.
