Macron calls summit
The French president will gather "major European countries" in Paris on Monday to discuss "European security."
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot confirmed on Sunday that French President Emmanuel Macron will hold an emergency summit of European leaders on Monday to discuss the situation in Ukraine and European security, Le Figaro reports.
The French president will gather "major European countries" in Paris on Monday to discuss "European security," Barrot confirmed on France Inter radio. He did not specify which leaders would be attending.
Five European diplomats said that France, Britain, Germany, Poland, Italy, Spain and Denmark, which will represent the Baltic and Scandinavian countries, will participate in the meeting, Reuters reported.
Barro spoke the day after US President Donald Trump's special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, surprised Europe by saying it would have no place at the negotiating table to end the Russia-Ukraine war.
