A cat jumped onto a plane before takeoff, causing the flight to be delayed for two days.

A stray cat caused chaos at Rome airport by climbing onto a plane before takeoff. The crew tried to catch the animal, but it only made the problem worse. The cat's attempt to fly resulted in a two-day delay in the flight.

The crew heard a cat meowing as passengers prepared to board a Ryanair flight from Rome to Germany on Saturday, February 1. The cat was found in an electrical compartment, but when crew members tried to catch it, the animal hid in the wiring, where it was impossible to get it out without damaging the cables. Engineers even removed several panels in the compartment, but were unable to reach the cat.

Due to the risk of the animal damaging equipment during the flight, the Boeing 737 flight had to be delayed. The crew left the door open, installed a surveillance camera and left the plane to allow the animal to climb out on its own. After more than a day, the camera finally filmed the stowaway carefully exiting the plane and descending the gangway.

“The cat was a stowaway, but could have caused serious problems at an altitude of more than 9 thousand kilometers above the ground. It is simply fortunate that its meow was heard. This was an expensive problem for Ryanair, costing the company tens of thousands of euros,” an anonymous source familiar with the situation told reporters.

According to the company's official report, the plane was eventually able to depart for Germany only on Monday, February 3, after two days of forced delay.
