An otolaryngologist said in an interview that it is not worth treating a runny nose with antiviral drugs - their effectiveness has not been proven. The doctor also linked the tendency to a runny nose to lifestyle.
With the increasing autumn cold weather, viral diseases invariably worsen. One of the most common is the common cold.
The doctor said that the common cold is spread by airborne droplets, and the most common way of infection is contact with a sick person. At the same time, if a person dresses inappropriately, freezes in a street draft, their chances of catching a common cold increase sharply. In addition, a common cold can occur more quickly in a person who eats improperly and does not lead a healthy lifestyle - all this leads to a weakening of immunity.
Speaking about the treatment of a runny nose, the doctor noted that the effectiveness of antiviral drugs in this case has not been proven. Rinsing the nose with saline solutions and frequent blowing the nose are of no benefit. The otolaryngologist emphasized that it is very harmful to sniffle with a runny nose, drawing the secretions into yourself: such a habit can provoke inflammation of the sinuses. It is necessary to blot the snot with a handkerchief, or blow your nose, and not hard, but gently and carefully.
