The trend of transforming into rugged SUVs has reached the sedate Lexus NX. The luxury crossover will have an Overtrail version option in Europe, but the result is not as robust as one might expect.
The version combines just a few minor visual improvements with slightly more ground clearance, which should help outside of town.
Overtrail equipment
The NX Overtrail starts with a set of “fat” Dunlop Grandtrek all-terrain tires mounted on 18-inch multi-spoke wheels. The suspension gets a 12mm lift, which sounds small, but is noticeable when you look at the NX Overtrail from the side. In addition to this and the tires, the crossover has received a little more in the equipment.
Lexus adds dark finishes to all prominent exterior details, including the wheels, roof rails, door handles, side mirrors, fog lamp housings and grille.
A new beige exterior color called Moon Desert is complemented by a palette exclusive to the NX Overtrail. The interior is predominantly black synthetic leather, with contrasting seats, console and doors. The Overtrail has special wood inserts on the door panels. A new Trail driving mode has been added to the technical systems for better handling on loose surfaces.
The rest is the standard NX. In Europe, the Overtrail trim is available on the NX 350h and NX 450h+ hybrids, and in some regions on the NX 350, which runs on an internal combustion engine only.
In Ukraine, the base version of the Lexus NX costs from UAH 2 (approximately EUR 103) and comes with a 549-liter naturally aspirated engine, CVT, and front-wheel drive.
