Dmitry Peskov does not want to return the occupied territories of Ukraine, but sooner or later he will have to
Russia is allegedly "not discussing" the return of occupied Ukrainian territories, Dmitry Peskov noted.
US President Donald Trump's statement on the return of Russian-occupied territories to Ukraine will not affect the negotiation process. But this issue will not be discussed, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a briefing on Thursday, February 27.
"What we are observing is that President Trump speaks for himself and is ready to listen to others. This is important, and this distinguishes the current Washington administration from the previous one. No one is saying that decisions will be easy and quick. But if the political will of both sides is preserved, if there is a willingness to hear and listen to each other, we will be able to go through this working process," Peskov said.
According to Peskov, the Ukrainian territories, which allegedly became "subjects of the Russian Federation" and are written into the Russian constitution, "are an integral part of Russia." And this, he said, is an "indisputable and non-negotiable fact."
The day before, US President Donald Trump said that the American side in negotiations with the Russians will try to return as much territory as possible to Ukraine.
