Dmitry Peskov really didn't like Volodymyr Zelensky's idea
Russia has never discussed and will not discuss the exchange of its territories, Dmitry Peskov assured.
Russia will not exchange territories with Ukraine, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a briefing on Wednesday, February 12.
"This is impossible," Peskov told reporters, commenting on yesterday's statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky about his readiness to discuss the exchange of territory controlled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region for occupied Ukrainian territories.
"Russia has never discussed and will not discuss the topic of exchanging its territory. Of course, Ukrainian units will be expelled from this territory. Everyone who is not destroyed will be expelled," the Kremlin spokesman said.
As is known, on August 6, 2024, the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched the Kursk operation. At its peak, the Ukrainian military controlled up to 1300 sq. km. Russia concentrated a significant group in this region and recaptured part of the territory. However, as of early January, Russian losses amounted to about 40 thousand soldiers.
A week ago, Zelenskyy said that the controlled territory of Kursk could become an important part of the negotiation process.
