Dmitry Peskov really likes Donald Trump's latest actions
Preparations for a negotiating group to organize a meeting between the leaders of the Russian Federation and the United States at the highest level have begun, Dmitry Peskov noted.
Russia positively assesses US President Donald Trump's intentions to end the "conflict in Ukraine," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a briefing on Thursday, February 13.
According to him, preparations have begun for a negotiating group to organize a meeting between the leaders of the Russian Federation and the United States at the highest level.
"It has definitely begun. And as the "president" (Putin - ed.) makes the appropriate decisions, we will inform you," Peskov said, adding that Russia "is impressed by the position of the new US administration, which intends to do everything to end the conflict in Ukraine."
When asked whether a visit by US representatives to Moscow is expected in the near future, Peskov said: "Not yet. There are no specific agreements on this yet."
As you know, on February 12, Donald Trump had a telephone conversation with Putin. The main topic was the war in Ukraine.
After that, Trump spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. According to the head of state, he and Trump agreed on further contacts and meetings.
After that, Trump said that the United States considers Ukraine's membership in NATO "impractical." At the same time, he noted that the United States would continue to provide assistance to Ukraine.
