At the end of February, Kia will show models that will make it the leader in the electric car market. At least, that's what the Korean automaker itself is hoping for.
Ahead of Kia EV Day on February 27, the brand has shared details of its global electrification leadership strategy, which includes the launch of the EV4 sports sedan, the EV2 compact crossover and the PV5 commercial van.
The blue electric car in the photo is a compact crossover Kia EV2. It has an unusual design of wheel rims, plastic linings on the arches and sills, as well as a massive rear bumper with a matte silver insert across the entire width. The Y-shaped lights, contrary to the trend, were not connected by an LED strip, and a small spoiler was added to the roof, which gives the electric car a sporty look. The roof itself is panoramic.
Next comes a photo of the EV4. The company itself calls this electric car a sports sedan: it also has plastic protection, elongated head optics and L-shaped lights, and in general it is designed in the same style as the “senior” EV6. The EV4 is predicted to have two battery options with a capacity of 58,3 and 81,4 kWh. It is expected that the electric car will be driven by a 201-horsepower electric motor mounted on the front axle.
The third new product with which Kia intends to become a leader in the electric vehicle market will be the PV5 commercial van. Its feature is the ability to install various body types on a chassis with a cab. The PV5 can be both cargo and passenger, and the interior of the latter is also modular and designed for different numbers of passengers, including those with limited mobility.
The PV5 will be part of a line of commercial electric vehicles based on the PBV (Platform Beyond Vehicle) platform, the production of which will be launched at the new Hyundai-Kia plant in South Korea. The plant's design capacity is 150 vehicles per year, and it is scheduled to be operational in 2025.
