The hoods are off the all-new Kia EV4 – and a little earlier than expected. The car was unveiled ahead of the brand’s “EV Day” later this month, and we got a chance to see the company’s new family car – in sedan and hatchback variants.
The interior hasn't been revealed yet, but exterior shots show how closely Kia designers have kept the EV4 concept, unveiled in 2023. The front end is largely unchanged, with identical headlights and vertical daytime running lights, as well as a similar "valve skin"-style hood. The dark stripe that runs the entire width of the hood has become thinner at the edges, but the lower air intake looks almost unchanged.
Kia says the EV4 is designed to “increase the appeal” of the brand’s electric models by “targeting a broad range of consumers.” It joins the recently launched EV3, as well as the larger EV6 and EV9. The EV5 mid-size crossover is also expected to go on sale in the UK later this year.

The EV4's sides retain the concept's blacked-out A, B and C pillars, while the D-pillar treatment has been slightly modified for the production sedan. The rear is also striking, with a coupe-like roofline, with a large rear window that slopes to the edge of the trunk lid, where a small spoiler and a smoothed trunk lid are located. The front DRLs have been moved to the rear, with tall taillights featuring a distinctive design.
Alongside the sleek sedan, Kia has unveiled the EV4 five-door hatchback, which is expected to be a more popular model in Europe and the UK. This version has a similar front end, with noticeable differences appearing behind the B-pillar – where the roofline is kept high for a more traditional look. Kia has opted for a clean rear design; it’s not entirely clear from early images whether designers have hidden the wiper blade under the roof spoiler or whether the EV4 hatchback will be without one.
Karim Habib, Executive Vice President and Head of Global Design at Kia, said: “The Kia EV4 is a clear reflection of our commitment to reimagine mobility and push the boundaries of what design can achieve. Offering sedan and hatchback options, we are giving our customers the unique experience of modernity and practicality that defines the Kia EV family, in a way that suits their diverse lifestyles and needs.”

More information, including powertrain and battery technology details, as well as images and interior details, will be revealed at Kia's 2025 EV Day in Spain on February 27.
