Jaguar has begun road testing a new electric sedan, according to spy shots taken on public roads in Spain. The model doesn't have an official name yet, but it's been reported as the Type 00.
The same designation was used for the Jaguar Type 00 concept car, unveiled in late 2024, which marked the beginning of a new era for the British brand. At the time, it was reported that its production version would be presented in 2025, and its prototype, apparently, was caught on spy cameras.
It is a four-door electric car based on the Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA) platform. It can travel up to 770 kilometers on a single battery charge.
Unlike the concept, which was a liftback without a rear window (like the Polestar 4), the sedan has a rear window, as can be seen in the photos. It is expected that the front of the electric car will have an element that repeats the shape of the classic Jaguar radiator grille, but the emblem, as is known, has been changed. It will be a graphic element with horizontal stripes.
The production model based on the Type 00 will be one of three electric cars that will form the basis of the new Jaguar lineup by 2029. A crossover will follow the sedan, but nothing is known about the third model yet. It can be assumed that it will be a supercar.
As for cars with internal combustion engines, they will be a thing of the past. The last Jaguar with an internal combustion engine for the European market, the F-Pace crossover, will roll off the assembly line in the coming months.
