It's hard to believe that the Ferrari 296 supercar will be celebrating its fourth birthday in 2025, as it remains one of the brand's best models. Like many of its mid-engined V8 predecessors, the 296 will receive updates throughout its life cycle, and we've got our first look at a revamped "base" version of the Italian supercar.
He talks about it NNews with reference to autoexpress.
As with the 488, 458, 430 and 360, the new 296 GTB variant will almost certainly get a power boost. The current 3,0-litre twin-turbo V6 will remain, as will its hybrid module, delivering a combined output of 819bhp and 740Nm of torque. The engine, which debuted in the 296 and produces 654bhp on its own, has been refined in the 296 Challenge, the Le Mans-winning 499P and even the new F80 hypercar – where it makes 888bhp. So the updated 296 could get a similar boost.
Traditionally for Ferrari, the camouflage of the test model does not reveal many details, but it is noticeable that there is no fixed rear wing. Instead, Ferrari will continue to use an active spoiler that generates 100 kg of downforce. In the Assetto Fiorano version, the 296 GTB can generate up to 360 kg of downforce at a speed of 250 km/h, but even more aerodynamic improvements are expected.
Although the camouflage hides the bodywork, it is likely that the new model will receive updated bumpers at the front and rear, possibly in the style of the 12Cilindri and the F80 with a contrasting black stripe at the front. Along with a likely new diffuser, the test model has a modified exhaust system - it has become simpler and more reminiscent of the F80 exhaust.
As for the name of the model, it remains a secret for now - until the official presentation at the end of the year, the updated 296 will receive the designation "Versione Speciale".
