Growing cabbage involves many nuances: organizing proper watering, conditions for budding, soil care. And you also need to constantly fight pests. One of the main tasks is to neutralize the voracious caterpillar (cabbage scoop, cabbage moth). Do not rush to the store. Chemicals can be used later, when ecological methods have already been tested. Jam can help in effective control.
How it works
Don't think that you need to cover cabbage with jam to make it a tasty treat for the caterpillar. Of course, it will be happy to eat some of it, but the goal is completely different. You need to lure wasps to the bed where the cabbage grows, to attract their attention.
Sweet treats are made from sugar syrup, fruit juice, jam. If you use a liquid product, then spray the cabbage with a spray bottle. If you have jam, just spread a little of it on the leaves of the plants. The wasps will become interested in sweets, and before dessert they will also be able to have the main dish - young caterpillars.
The method may be tricky, but it is simple and environmentally friendly. It is suitable for cases where the caterpillars have not yet multiplied much. Otherwise, it will be difficult to do without pesticides. But at first, try to stop the reproduction of colonies in a natural way. Be resourceful, because you can go to the store for chemicals at any time.
