According to the expert, children should not be given sweet breakfast cereals, and adults should avoid too many carbohydrates and fat.
Australian nutritionist Susie Barel has revealed which foods are the worst for breakfast, and which foods will bring the most benefits. Barel believes that the most dangerous product for starting the day is pita bread, as well as other similar bread products. The fact is that these popular flatbreads are very low in nutrients, but full of carbohydrates - one pita can contain 80 grams.
Sweet cereals and other ready-made breakfasts are also a bad choice. They are also practically empty in terms of nutrients, contain almost no fiber, but due to the high content of sugar and other fast carbohydrates, they cause sharp spikes in blood sugar. And the body does not like this and is especially dangerous in the morning.
In addition, such cereals have two more disadvantages. They are not able to saturate for a long time and accustom children to eat sweets in the morning. And these are risk factors for the development of obesity. Instead, it is better to buy unsweetened cereals, whole grains or granola. They are recommended to be consumed with Greek yogurt or whole milk, you can add a little honey, berries or fruit.
A good breakfast would be scrambled eggs with vegetables and toast, preferably whole grain bread. People who are not overweight and have metabolic problems can add fried bacon to their breakfast.
