Man saved, as he thought, a cat on the street, but it turned out to be another animal with some similar features.

In a video posted on the Lucky Angel TikTok page, which posts animal rescue clips, the tiny cub is seen walking down a road in the US before being picked up by an anonymous man.

Although the animal looks like a kitten thanks to its ears, nose and fluffy fur, it turned out to be a baby fennec fox.

The author of the video showed how the fox cub grew from the moment it was picked up on the road to becoming a happy, healthy fox in a loving home.

The man first picks up the poor fox cub, then takes it home to wash its fur. He then keeps it warm and dry in a fur blanket, then puts it on the scale to find that it weighs a tiny 40 grams. The fox cub then sleeps in its own crib in its new home, and then the owner feeds the tiny animal with a syringe.

The fox is then bathed and looks straight into the camera with its big black eyes, pointed ears and whiskers. It then plays a little with a bone toy, which it tries to grab with its mouth.

The fox is now noticeably cleaner and healthier than before, lying on its owner's lap and playing with him, who strokes and tickles the animal. In the next clip, the fox approaches the owner's cat, which is much larger than it, but surprisingly forces the cat to back off before running out of the room. In the rest of the video, the fennec fox has noticeably increased in size, playing with toys in its house and cuddling up to its owner on the couch.

The video has garnered a staggering 38 million views, 3 million likes, and over 18 comments.

One confused user asked: “Do I need glasses because it was 100% a kitten and then a fox. I was like, ‘Wait a minute, damn it.’” Another asked: “What on earth was a little fennec fox doing on the road in America?” Meanwhile, a third said: “I wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t looked up the information about newborn fennec foxes.”

The fennec fox is a small fox native to the deserts of North Africa, and its most distinctive feature is its unusually large ears. According to National Geographic, it is also the smallest fox in the world.
