"The Associated Press continues to ignore the legal change in the geographical name of the American Gulf. This decision is not only divisive, but also exposes the AP's commitment to disinformation," the administration representative emphasized.
He noted that while the agency has the right to express its position, which he called "irresponsible and dishonest," this "does not grant the AP privilege in accessing restricted spaces such as the Oval Office and Air Force One."
At the same time, Budovich noted that Associated Press journalists and photographers will retain their credentials in other rooms of the White House complex.
US President Donald Trump ordered the name of the Gulf of Mexico to be changed to the Gulf of America a few hours after taking office.
At the end of January, Google confirmed that it would rename the Gulf of Mexico on its maps in the United States.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum criticized Google's action, saying the company had no right to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico.
