Even minor eye problems can be a symptom of a dangerous disease!
Vision impairment, colored spots before the eyes, or red eyelids — these signs can often indicate that something is wrong with your health. Harmless at first glance signs can be the first symptoms of serious illnesses — to prevent them in time, consult a doctor as soon as possible.
Spots and flashes before the eyes
We've all noticed black dots or colored circles before our eyes from time to time — especially after straining our eyes for a long time or looking at the sun. But if black dots before our eyes don't go away for a long time (or appear for no apparent reason) — be sure to see a doctor, as this could be a symptom of retinal tears or damage.
Birthmark
New or enlarged moles around the eyes or on the eyelids, freckles that are more numerous than usual - all this is a reason to see a doctor. Especially if you have been in the sun a lot lately - do not miss these symptoms, they can signal the onset of melanoma!
Red, inflamed eyes
Red eyelids, a feeling of dryness and burning in the eyes are a reason to consult a doctor if these symptoms do not go away within 24 hours. This may be an infection, conjunctivitis - or it may be one of the signs of serious diseases of internal organs (for example, the thyroid gland). Be sure to consult a doctor!
Deterioration of vision
This is a very serious symptom and it doesn't just mean that you've been straining your eyes too much lately.
Sudden vision loss is one of the signs of type 2 diabetes. Some other serious diseases, including some types of cancer, can also manifest as sudden vision loss. If your vision becomes worse, be sure to see a doctor.
Pupil change
If your pupils (both or one) have become larger or smaller, you should see a doctor as soon as possible - this may be a signal that something is wrong with the vessels of your brain. A pupil that has changed can warn of a stroke or report a concussion. In any case, you should not ignore this symptom!
