High blood pressure is strongly associated with an unhealthy lifestyle. Experts know that some vegetables, among their most valuable properties for health, also reduce blood pressure.
In Ukraine, more than 50% of people over 50 have high blood pressure. Most of the victims of hypertension are not even aware of its presence, as the disorder develops without any symptoms. And if you don't use a tonometer, years later you can face such life-threatening complications as strokes and heart attacks. Fortunately, a balanced diet provides powerful protection against blood pressure spikes.
It has long been established that vegetables are the most important component of a balanced diet. There are certain varieties of them whose ability to lower blood pressure has been proven in clinical studies. The first five such vegetables include potatoes, sweet potatoes, asparagus, spinach, and cabbage. All these vegetables are very rich in potassium, and it lowers blood pressure by counteracting the negative effects of salt.
Technically, our kidneys can control blood pressure by reducing the amount of fluid that accumulates in the body. It is known that the more of this liquid, the higher the pressure. The kidneys fight this by filtering the blood and removing excess fluid, which then enters the bladder in the form of urine. This process is an effect of the balance of sodium and potassium, with the help of which water passes through the cell walls from the bloodstream into a special collection channel that leads to the bladder. Salt increases the amount of sodium in the bloodstream, which destroys this balance. And vegetables not only restore it, but also make it more useful for health due to potassium.
