Most gardeners grow onions, but not everyone knows the main secret of yield. Before planting, planting material must be soaked. In this case, the plant will not get sick, will start growing quickly, and the harvest will not disappoint you. There are two main means by which summer residents prepare a solution for soaking onions at home.
How to treat bulbs before planting
The effectiveness of these products has been proven by time and experience. Both solutions use warm water up to 50 degrees. Potassium permanganate is a reliable option. A bright pink solution of medium strength will be optimal. You can accidentally ruin the bulbs with a solution that is too strong, and a weak solution simply will not cope with disinfection. The medium solution is a safe and effective option. The bulbs are kept in it for 40-45 minutes.

Another simple and affordable tool used to prepare a solution for soaking planting material is salt. There are three options for preparing the tool:
- 20-25 grams of salt per 1 liter of water – soak for 2-3 hours;
- 50-60 grams of salt per 1 liter of water – soak for 1-1,5 hours;
- 80-100 grams per 1 liter of water - you need to soak for exactly 30 minutes.

It is recommended to use a strong salt solution only if the bulbs for planting are infected with something and this is visible visually - there is mold, rot, etc. Otherwise, a medium-strength salt solution will be quite sufficient for high-quality processing of planting material.
