Many Italian mass media wrote about this curious case, and a huge discussion started in social networks.

Businesswoman Hessica Hecka took her grandmother to a restaurant in the southern city of Arezzo, Italy, for her birthday. Everything was going well until the woman was presented with a bill that was much higher than she had expected, The Mirror reports.
As it turned out, the employees of the institution charged customers as much as 659 euros (about 30 thousand UAH), in particular, 58 euros (2,6 thousand UAH) were spent on cutting and serving the birthday cake. As the staff pointed out that these were the rules of the restaurant, the guests did have to pay for the service.
Many Italian mass media wrote about this curious case, and a huge discussion began in social networks about the quality of service in Italy and the unjustified increase in prices for all services.
“I didn’t expect so much fuss. I think the amount they charged me is disproportionate to the service provided, so I decided to share this story on Facebook,” says Hessika.
On the other hand, the owner of the restaurant, whose name has not been released, explained to La Nazione that the waiters do not charge for serving dishes ordered at the restaurant, but in this case the guests bought the dessert elsewhere.
"I have to pay the waiter, service the dishwasher and spend money on other things. How to reimburse all these expenses?" - he explains his position.
The man added that if he had been present during the incident, he would have acted differently and offered the birthday girl a discount: "It's better to save 50 euros and make people happy than to deal with a misunderstanding that makes everyone lose."
