After almost three years of full-scale war, the West must finally isolate Russia – “lock it in a prison” of its own making, says former British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace. He says that despite sanctions, Russia is now acting as if nothing has happened.
Moreover, Europe and America are still full of wealthy supporters of the Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin in private schools and capitals. Wallace, writing for The Telegraph, says that popular British brands are still sold in Moscow, and Russia is still able to operate a “shadow” fleet, exporting oil, cutting cables and smuggling.
“In 2025, we must make sure that the West starts building high prison walls. We must close the holes and lock the doors. We must also use our collective diplomacy to put pressure on places like Cyprus, the UAE, and Switzerland to tighten their grip on the ‘platforms’ for the Russian elite,” he said.
Wallace also said that Putin, in his 25 years in power, has made Russia worse off than it was before he came to power. The Russian criminal has sacrificed hundreds of thousands of his own citizens for his own ego. He has abandoned the rule of law, persecuted his opponents, invaded other countries, and waged a subversive war against the West.
“The result, as one would expect, is this: Russia has become a smaller, poorer, and weaker country than when Putin first took office,” Wallace reports.
Now, according to him, the Russian Federation is forced to kneel before the DPRK in search of “cannon fodder” and China. The last three years have shown that this criminal and fascist regime goes far beyond the group of old embittered KGB officers in the Kremlin. It turned out that the Russians not only support the invasion, but also approve of torture, mass murder, contract killings and cyberattacks.
As in Germany under Adolf Hitler, Russia's actions are only possible because of the broad approval of its citizens. Most Russians abroad - in the UAE, Cyprus or in European capitals - believe that Putin is right, writes the former British Defense Minister.
When it becomes clear that Putin has no real friends, he will look weak, and like any other organized crime group, his days will be numbered.
Other news about Wallace
Earlier, Wallace called on Germany to transfer Taurus missiles to Ukraine. He did so after Russia struck the village of Groza in the Kharkiv region, killing 52 people.
“Every time Russia strikes civilians and violates international law by hitting civilian infrastructure in Ukraine, an appropriate response is needed,” Wallace noted.
In addition, Wallace was accused of falling into a “Russian trap.” Previously, the former British Defense Minister accused Germany of being “heavily infiltrated by Russian intelligence.”
